You are not strangers any longer. You are now fellow citizens with God's people and members of the family of God.
~ Ephesians 2:19

- “Anything Goes” Sale …It is that time of year again to find your gently-used items to donate to the church for the “Anything Goes” sale at the Alerus Center on May 19 th. This fundraiser is one of two that we do to fund our ministry at Family of God and we need your help! Once again, we invite you to bring your donations to the church library either marked or unmarked. Please no microwaves or T.V.’s. We definitely need people to help again this year at the Alerus Center on the day of the sale, as well as people with trucks to assist in carting the items over to the Alerus Center the day before. A clipboard is going around this morning, please help if you can, as this fundraiser is SO important to the life of the church.
- Family Fun Nights to begin …
Family of God is bringing back an old tradition from years back. During the summer months, watch for Family Fun Nights to come back once or twice a month on Wednesday nights. Outdoor movies, game nights, etc. are just some of the activities we are beginning to plan. For questions or to help in the planning, contact Trevor Grainger or Steve Magenau.
- New Youth Group forming!...
Family of God is forming a new Youth Group for 6th - 12th graders! This youth group would be starting up in late summer/early fall and will be lead by Trevor Grainger. Trevor has been doing some visioning regarding what this Youth group will look like. Do you have gifts in this area? Contact Trevor if you would like to help. Watch your Beacon for more details coming!
- Fall Education needs …
It is not too soon to begin planning for the fall ministries here at Family of God. And it is not too soon to begin thinking about some of the ways that God is calling you to use your gifts in the ministries here. In the area of Education, Family of God could desperately use more
individuals who would like to teach Sunday School, lead bible studies, lead/coordinate Vacation Bible School etc. If you would like to use your gifts in this way, please let Steve Magenau or Pastor Sonja know.
- Season of celebrations…
It is the season of graduations, parties, receptions, and garage sales… Just a reminder that the church does have tables in the shed and chairs etc. to loan to members for these occasions. However, please be sure that you check these items out with Shellie in the office first! Shellie is the only one that has the check-out sheets (that are required to be signed) in order for you to be able to borrow items from the church. Thank you!
- “Gather” Bible study …
All women of the church are invited to the women’s May 4th bible study at 9:30 a.m..This month’s study out of “Gather” will be Session 9 of our year-long study: “To

to the story of the women at the empty tomb and an account of what happens following that puzzling moment of revelation about the resurrection. All are welcome to come! Coffee, Tea and water are always on!

- Do you use the Internet? …
Family of God is looking for more households who would be willing to receive their Beacon electronically in an effort to, 1) go a little “Greener”, and 2) save the church a little more money in paper and postage costs. If you feel that this would work for your family to receive your
Beacon electronically, please contact the church office and we will send you your next Beacon via email! Thanks for your consideration!
- Thrivent Choice Dollars …
Thanks to so many who have designated their Thrivent Choice Dollars to the ministries of Family of God! Because Thrivent doesn’t have a mechanism in place to let the church know who the dollars are from and where they would like the dollars to be designated, the church is asking if you would let us know if we should be expecting Choice Dollars coming to the church
on your behalf. That way, we can be sure our record-keeping is accurate! Thanks so much!

- Spring Church clean-up/the Big Event…
The spring clean-up for the church happened on April 21. Many projects were accomplished inside and some outside. Thanks to Sheryl Cariveau for serving as
the “task-master” that morning. Thanks to all who came and worked (including the 12 or so UND students!) and thanks to those who contributed to the BBQ lunch. It is true what they say, “Many hands DO make light work!”
